Cashmere Cat‘s latest song with The Weeknd got us thinking, what other pop stars has Cashy worked with? He’s got a sultry sound that’s nostalgically futuristic. He makes the kind of beats any self-respecting superstar would want to lay a vocal to.
He may not be as mainstream as Zedd – yet – but the Norwegian producer has a lot of credits under his belt, many of them even surprised us. Get pumped for his album Wild Love by re-listening to these songs he’s written.
Charli XCX – “Break The Rules”
This rebellious tune introduced Cashmere Cat to the US Billboard Hot 100 charts. It peaked at 91, but getting there is half the battle. Cosmopolitan named it the fifth best song of 2014. It was also featured in the movie Goosebumps. The more you know.
Talk about a sensual stunner. Can you imagine a groovier team up than this? Very classic Cashmere Cat elements at play here. A very Asian-inspired beat with playfully placed notes that sound like rain falling on rainbow windows you can see with your ears. This brought Cashmere Cat to No. 71 on the Hot 100 and a strong 21 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart.
Tinashe – “All Hands On Deck”
After working with the sexual singer as a feature, he gave Tinashe her own full-length. This one doesn’t sound very typical of the Cat, but it does feature some really fun pan flute work. It took Tinashe and Cashy all the way to the top of the Billboard Bubbling Under Hot 100 Charts. Meow.
Ty Dolla $ign feat. Tinashe and Charli XCX – “Drop That Kitty”
Do you think Cashmere Cat likes working with Charli XCX and Tinashe? No way, right? Here he goes again showing off his mastery of the modern hip-pop anthem. It’s edgy but accessible. It’s clubby but cool for twerkin’ at home. Use your discretion.
YUP. Bet you didn’t catch this one. Iconic work alongside the very legendary Kanye West. A cut from the impressive and strange LP The Life of Pablo, currently being toured. Cashmere Cat had his craft paws all over this one. What a wonder.
