Lander was diagnosed with Osteosarcoma, an aggressive form of bone cancer, in her leg in 2011. She had been performing and writing new music with Camera Obscura in the time since her diagnosis but was forced to stop in August.
“She was left in no doubt how much you all loved and appreciated her, and we’d like to thank you all for the support and kind words you have been sending to us and her,” the Oct. 11 post continued. “The band, our music, and all of you who have enjoyed it over the years, meant so much to her.”
Prior to hear death, Lander wanted people to donate toward finding a cure. She set up a JustGiving page, where supporters can donate to her cause. The band said on Facebook that donations can still be made here.
