As Americans settle in today (Nov. 24) for a traditional Thanksgiving Day feast and National Football League (NFL) games in Detroit and Dallas, they will also be treated to performances by pop stars Mariah Carey, Sheryl Crow and Toni Braxton.
Carey will be on hand in Detroit, where the Lions will face off against the Atlanta Falcons at Ford Field. Carey will perform two songs between halves of the game, while Braxton will deliver the National Anthem prior to the opening kickoff. The game will be televised by Fox beginning at 12:30 p.m. ET.
Crow has been tapped to launch the Salvation Army’s annual Red Kettle Christmas Holiday Campaign with her performance at Texas Stadium in Irving, Texas. The halftime show of this game annually serves as the kickoff to national fundraising effort.
“I just think it’s about awareness,” says Crow. “It’s about having the urge to give back at a time right now where we’re exposed to so many images that represent need and consciousness and Salvation Army has always represented that.”
The game vs. the Denver Broncos is slated will be broadcast live on CBS beginning at 4 p.m. ET.
