Cardi B was among the many celebs who reacted to the news on Friday morning (Oct. 2) that President Trump had tested positive for the coronavirus. But, Cardi being Cardi, she, of course, did it in the funniest way — while also plugging her latest project.
Alluding to the title of the surprise collab with K-pop act Blackpink on their just-released debut LP, The Album, Cardi tweeted, “‘BET YOU WANNA’ wear a mask now,” followed by three worried-face emoji.
The tweet included a retweet of the President’s original announcement, in which he revealed that he and First lady Melania Trump had tested positive for COVID-19 and were heading into quarantine.
According to The New York Times, Trump is experiencing mild, cold-like symptoms just a day after he went ahead with a campaign fundraiser in New Jersey after reportedly knowing that close aide Hope Hicks had tested positive for the novel coronavirus that has killed more than 208,000 and infected over 7.3 million in the United States.
Trump has steadfastly refused to wear a mask in most public appearances and made a point of mocking White House rival Democrat Vice President Joe Biden at their contentious debate on Tuesday (Sept. 29), where the President’s entourage reportedly took their masks off as soon as they entered the debate arena against required protocol. Trump has also been holding large rallies recently, some indoors, where the majority of attendees have been pictured not socially distancing or wearing masks as he has consistently played down the virus’ danger.
Cardi was joined by Todrick Hall, Sara Bareilles, Ice-T, 50 Cent, Josh Gad and a number of other artists who reacted to the news, along with Biden, who wished the Trumps a speedy recovery.
