Cardi B was a vision in red at the Met Gala on Monday (May 6), but a look as extravagant as hers took a village.
A new video uploaded by Vogue goes behind-the-scenes as the rapper gets her hair and makeup done for the big event. “Titties are very sensual,” she explained of the $250,000 Stefere-designed ruby nipples on her lavish Thom Browne dress. The oxblood red gown, which spanned ten feet around her, also featured 30,000 burned and dyed feathers that took 35 people over 2,000 hours to create.
“I wanted to do something exaggerated but not costume. A lot of people can be real cheesy when it comes to Camp. Shade,” she said of the year’s theme, “Camp: Notes on Fashion,” curated by Andrew Bolton, a play on writer Susan Sontag’s seminal essay, “Notes on Camp.”
