In the wake of Capitol Records Nashville executive VP Bill Catino’s move to Universal Music Group Nashville, Jimmy Harnen has been elevated to VP of promotion at the label. He reports to Capitol president and CEO Mike Dungan.
Harnen joined the label late last fall as senior director of national promotion. Prior to that, he was VP/associate manager at Refugee Management International where he handled day-to-day management duties for Jo Dee Messina. Before joining the management company, he was co-national director of promotion and artist development at DreamWorks Records from 1997-2003.
His previous experience includes stints in regional promotion at Curb/Universal Records and as an advertising sales rep at the now-defunct Gavin magazine.
Harnen is also a singer/songwriter and producer. As a performer, he landed a top 10 song on Billboard’s Hot 100 chart in the early 1990’s with “Where Are You Now?”
