Canadian entertainment mogul Guy Cloutier was arrested Thursday (March 25) at his Montreal home. The theatrical/TV producer and artist manager pleaded not guilty to charges of indecent assault, rape, sexual aggression, assault and obstruction of justice involving one young woman who alleges she was victimized between 1978 and 2004. She was under 18 when some of the alleged incidents took place.
The complainant cannot be named under terms of a Quebec publication ban.
Cloutier will next appear in court May 7 in Montreal. He has chosen to be tried by jury.
Cloutier has been one of the most successful entertainment in Canada for more than four decades, working primarily in television and music. He discovered international child pop stars René and Nathalie Simard in the ’70s. He is one of the backers of the stage musical “Don Juan,” currently playing at Théâtre St. Denis in Montreal.
