New year, new Calvin Harris.
No, he didn’t just drop a new single, but he did officially and publicly drop the retro, ’70s groove, poolside sex jam sound of his 2017 release Funk Wav Bounces Vol. 1. It was a sonic template of pinks, oranges, yellows and greens. It gave us “Slide,” which in turn earned him Billboard Dance‘s pick for best song of the year. It was a smoky-eyed sound he brought to his remix of SZA‘s “The Weekend,” and now, it is over.
The producer tweeted that in 2018, he’ll be moving on to other sounds, though he thanked us all for rockin’ with him through the aural adventure. No word on what his next move will be, but you’ll just have to stay tuned to find out.
