A couple weeks ago, Calvin Harris — the top-earning DJ of 2014 — announced Motion, his fourth studio album. The starry guest list included Big Sean, Gwen Stefani, Haim, Tinashe, and Ellie Goulding. The track with Goulding, a follow-up to the 2012 collaboration “I Need Your Love,” is out now.
While the “I Need Your Love” video showed Harris and Goulding on a kissy day of fun, “Outside” sounds more like a bitter parting. “I’ll show you what it feels like / now I’m on the outside,” Goulding sings to a light, perfectly Harrisian beat.
