Gary Calderone has joined the Canadian-based music publishing firm ole as VP of administration. Calderone will be responsible for ole’s global royalty collection and administration activities, with the company’s administration group reporting to him directly. He’ll report to ole chairman and CEO Robert Ott.
Most recently, Calderone was VP of royalties and income tracking at Universal Music/BMG Music Publishing, where he managed the integration of the one-million-song-plus BMG Music Publishing catalogue into the Universal Music Publishing model.
Calderone began his career at Coopers and Lybrand as a CPA, entering the music business as a member of the Internal Audit Department of Sony Music in 1992, working in both their New York and London offices and handling audits in Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
In 1994, he joined EMI Music Publishing in New York as assistant director of royalties, jumping to Zomba Music Publishing in 1997 as director of royalty administration. In 2001, Calderone was promoted to Zomba senior director of royalties and income tracking. He was hired as BMG Music Publishing’s senior director of royalty administration in 2004 and promoted to VP in 2006.
