“Care” throws the listener into the middle of post-relationship wreckage. “Every night you used to come through,” Cade sings, soft but still accusatory. “Stay up ’til 4 in the front room.” He’s already in damage control mode, assuring himself, “it is what it is.” The beat bobs softly, a guitar plays a light melody.
“‘Care’ is so cool to me because it mixes the emotion of R&B music with the dynamic elements of electronic dance music, creating a fresh sound that can be enjoyed anywhere, anytime,” Cade tells Billboard in an email.
The track was produced by Cheat Codes‘ Trevor Dahl. “I always love working with him,” Cade writes. “I feel that we have a very similar mindset when it comes to making music; so we work very well together creatively. I have so much respect for Trevor — both as an artist and as a person. Everything he touches turns to gold.”
