Hip-hop agent Cara Lewis is leaving talent agency CAA, Billboard has confirmed.
The New York-based Lewis joined the firm in 2012 after a 23-year run at rival William Morris Endeavor. She has represented the likes of Kanye West, who left CAA for UTA in March, Eminem, Tupac Shakur and Public Enemy. Her more recent signings include Iggy Azalea, MAGIC!, Waka Flocka, Rita Ora and Pusha-T.
A regular of Billboard’s Women in Music list, Lewis came in at No. 35 in 2014 (her fourth successive appearance) after another solid year in which she booked dates for Eminem, West and the Pitbull/Enrique Iglesias tour.
The New York Post reported the news on Nov. 3, citing unnamed sources who claim Lewis’ personality wasn’t a fit at the agency.
CAA declined comment.
