Texas-based singer/songwriter Jack Ingram is fielding label offers for his already completed seventh studio album and is also planning on recording a set with like-minded fellow Texan Pat Green. In addition, Ingram appears in Lee Ann Womack’s latest video and has begun syndicating his weekly radio show.
“I pretty much have the record done and I’m excited about how it’s turned out,” Ingram says of his as-yet-untitled studio album. “There has never really been a legitimate push from a record label in the past, but this time I’m going to get that right.”
Ingram released his last studio album, 2002’s “Electric,” via the Columbia-affiliated Lucky Dog label. The set bowed at No. 23 on Billboard’s Top Heatseekers chart and No. 34 on the Top Country Albums tally.
As for recording with Green, Ingram says the planned January sessions have been a long time coming. The duo has toured together and Green recorded Ingram’s “One Thing” for his latest Republic album, “Lucky Ones.”
“Finally both our schedules have lined up where we can spend some quality time together working on some songs,” he says about the set, which he expects to emerge towards the end of 2005. “I know it’s going to be good.”
In late November, Ingram shot the video for Womack’s “I’m Gonna Love You Tonight,” playing the male lead. The clip is expected to premiere on country video outlets in the coming weeks.
As for his radio show, it was launched in the beginning of the year on KLPX (“The Wolf”) Dallas. “Jack’s Tracks: Jack Ingram’s Real.American.Music.Hour” has found him playing his own music and such artists as Green, Nashville Skyline, Tom Waits and Buddy Miller, according to the show’s most recent play list. The Sunday night show, which can be heard online through the KLPX Web site, will begin airing on stations throughout Texas early in the New Year. It’s expected to grow beyond the borders of the Lone Star state as the year progresses.
“I’ve had a fantastic time doing the show,” Ingram says. “I’ve been able to play a lot of music that I think people want to hear. Good songwriting, great lyrics with a story to tell, and my audience really enjoys it. I’m thrilled that it’s expanding.”
