Peter Bullard has been promoted to the new position of president of Tokyo-based Viacom Japan, MTV Networks International said today (Oct. 27).
Bullard, previously executive VP/managing director of Viacom Japan, will oversee the operations of all MTV Networks’ linear and digital programming services in that market, as well as other related businesses in Japan. He will report to MTV Networks International president Bill Roedy.
“Peter has been instrumental in driving the growth of our businesses across brands and platforms in Japan and throughout Asia over the years,” said Roedy in a statement. “Japan will continue to be one of our biggest international growth markets as we fast-track the development of Flux, MTV and Nickelodeon to enhance our connection with Japanese audiences.”
Commented Bullard in a statement: “”Our momentum is strong and we’re seeing our multi-faceted businesses expand and grow quickly in Japan. With a fantastic team of talented executives in place, I’m confident that we can continue to build stronger relationships with Japanese consumers by introducing even more innovative brands, products and services.”
Bullard’s appointment follows MTVN’s recent acquisition of San Francisco-based private equity firm H&Q Asia Pacific’s 68.1% equity stake in the MTV Japan joint venture, which gave MTVN 100% ownership of the Tokyo-based music channel.
