The original soundtrack album for BTS’ new mobile game BTS World, which came out on June 26, dropped today (June 28), and features the sweeping new single from the group in the form of the expressive “Heartbeat.”
Along with “Heartbeat,” BTS World’s soundtrack also features 10 other brand new tracks, primarily instrumental songs, along with the three previously released collaborative songs that split the group members up among the trio, which saw those groupings collaborate with Charli XCX, Zara Larsson, and Juice WRLD.
The soundtrack also featured songs from two other Korean artists aside from BTS, “You Are Here” by Big Hit Entertainment labelmate and former 8Eight member Lee Hyun, and “LaLaLa” female indie pop duo Okdal, who is under Magic Strawberry Sound.
“Haertbeat,” which soars over dulcet vocals and a pop-rock melody from start to finish, was released through a music video that features videos from the game and new shots of the members enhanced by fantastical CGI that expresses the bond between BTS and their world, their ARMY fandom, showing BTS as the center of ARMY’s universe.
The video starts with concert footage highlighting the relationship between the band and its following, with the question, “If you were not here then, would we, who were just like a lonely island shine as bright as now?” appearing on screen at the start. It ends with the phrase, “See you there again, where we first met in 2012,” in reference to how BTS World begins prior to BTS’ debut in 2013, and has the player acting as their manager assembling the act.
