As if the biggest reality show of the summer could get any bigger, BTS is coming to America’s Got Talent. Host Tyra Banks announced on Wednesday night’s (Sept. 5) results show that the K-pop supergroup will perform their hit “Idol” on next Wednesday’s (Sept. 12) semifinal results show. The announcement came on the same night that one of season 13’s most popular acts, expecting husband/wife musical act Us the Duo, were eliminated from the show.
That devastating cut left stand-up comic Samuel J. Comroe, aerial artists Duo Transcend, magician Shin Lim, singer Michael Ketterer and acrobatic dance group Zurcaroh in the mix, while the child choir Voice of Hope were sent home, along with singers Amanda Mena and Makayla Phillips, visual act Front Pictures and dance group Junior New System. The other 11 remaining semifinalists will compete next Tuesday (Sept. 11) and a winner will be announced on Sept. 19.
BTS is having a pretty epic summer. After becoming the first K-pop act to hit No. 1 on the Billboard Artist 100 chart in June, BTS just returned to the top (on the chart dated Sept. 8), reigning as the top musical act in the U.S. for a second total week. The group kicked off their U.S. run of world tour dates with the first of four shows in Los Angeles at the Staples Center on Wednesday night.
