Several athletes at the 2018 Pyeongchang Winter Olympics have already spoken up about their love of K-pop, and now two are even hoping to dress Korean boy band — and this week’s Billboard cover models — BTS in Team USA apparel.
On Friday (Feb. 16), Alex Shibutani shared a picture on Twitter featuring himself with sister Maia, holding seven knitted red-white-and-blue hats bearing the Team USA and sponsor Ralph Lauren’s logos, and the names of the members of the popular Korean septet.
In the tweet, Shibutani wrote that he was hoping to get in touch with BTS to give them the hats. “Hey fam!” wrote the 26-year-old ice dancer. “Maia Shibutani and I have these awesome hats for the guys and we want to make sure they receive them. How do we make this happen?”
The Shibutanis placed ninth at the Olympic Winter games in Sochi, Russia, in 2014 and are fan favorites for gold during the Feb. 20 ice dancing short program. The brother-sister ice dancing duo, also known as the “Shib Sibs,” have already earned a bronze medal as part of the team skating event, where they placed second in the ice dancing segment.
As of publication, the Shibutanis still appear to be trying to get in touch with BTS.
The love call for BTS came a few days after fellow Team USA snowboarder Chloe Kim revealed that she listened to CL ahead of competitions; Kim went on to win a gold medal in the ladies’ halfpipe competition on Feb. 13.
