The studio belonging to veteran producer/DJ BT (real name: Brian Transeau) was robbed over Christmas break. Thieves escaped with all of Transeau’s studio equipment — valued at more than $100,000 — and the master tapes to his next album, which featured already recorded collaborations with Peter Gabriel, Jan Johnston, and Way Out West.
“Everything is gone,” reports the BT Network Web site. “Brian’s computers, synths, hard drives, etc. were stolen. Most of album #4 is missing. He didn’t have any off-site backups.”
“This malicious action was done solely in order to hurt Brian,” the emotional post continues. “Someone didn’t like that he had more than they ever will. What can a person do with those things taken? Sell them? Release the tracks onto Audiogalaxy?
BT has vowed that if his studio and finished masters are returned, “there will be a huge reward and no questions asked.”
“He just wants his music back,” concludes the post, before adding this stern warning to those involved in the crime: “If you have anything to live for you will act upon his request or be pursued for a very long time. As previously reported, BT, who was in London when the robbery occurred, is scheduled to appear on New Years Eve at Spundae in Los Angeles alongside Paul Oakenfold and Deep Dish.
