Young love is exciting and exuberant, but it’s also often fraught with jealousy and deceit. Such is the romance in the video for “Youngr,” the latest from Brazlian producer Bruno Martini featuring Shaun Jacobs. It’s a light and summer-tinged dance-pop jam, Martini’s second to be co-produced with legendary cross-genre powerhouse Timbaland.
The music video was filmed in Martini’s home city of São Paulo, Brazil, and co-stars his fellow countryman Fiuk, a mononymous actor and drift car racer. The story tells of a woman caught between lovers of her present and her past. Martini plays the ex, while Fiuk fills the role of the current boyfriend. The big twist? Who she ends up.
“I’ve always been into fast cars and race cars,” Martini is quoted in a press release. “Fiuk introduced me to the drift car community in São Paulo, and I was blown away. I thought the whole vibe, setting and edge of drifting fitted with the atmosphere I wanted to lay down on the ‘Youngr’ video, so we actually filmed it at the drift track where Fiuk and his crew do regular drift racing competitions. I still need to learn a lot about racing cars in this way, but I’m hooked.”
“Youngr” and its video see full release Friday, Oct. 19, on Aftercluv, but you can hop into the passenger seat and drift away below, exclusively on Billboard Dance.
