Bruno Mars‘ “Grenade” reignites atop the Billboard Hot 100, rebounding 2-1 and logging a third nonconsecutive week in the chart’s top spot, having alternated between Nos. 1 and 2 over the past six weeks.
The track, which returns to No. 1 on Digital Songs for a fifth frame (204,000 downloads, down 7%, according to Nielsen SoundScan) and bullets at No. 3 on Radio Songs (125 million in audience, up 3%, per Nielsen BDS), is the first to ink three separate runs at the Hot 100’s apex since T.I.‘s “Live Your Life,” featuring Rihanna (six total weeks at No. 1), in October-December 2008.

Of the eight songs to start north of 300,000 downloads, “Hold It Against Me” logs the second-largest second-week percentage decline (411,000 to 183,000, down 55%). Only Taylor Swift‘s “Today Was a Fairytale” fell more sharply in its second frame (325,000 to 100,000, down 69%) a year ago next week.
Conversely, Spears’ song bounds 23-11 with the top increase on Radio Songs (60.2 million in audience, up 34%). Hence, the cut’s five-rung Hot 100 plunge with Airplay Gainer honors.
Katy Perry‘s former No. 1 “Firework” rises 3-2 on the Hot 100, while Wiz Khalifa‘s “Black and Yellow” jumps 5-3. The rapper performed the latter track at Pittsburgh’s Heinz Field Sunday (Jan. 23), apparently serving as a good luck charm: the song spurred the NFL’s black-and-yellow-wearing Steelers to an AFC-clinching victory over the New York Jets. The track surges 3-2 on Digital Songs (201,000, up 6%) and reaches the top 10 (11-9) on Radio Songs.

Enrique Iglesias‘ “Tonight (I’m Lovin’ You),” featuring Ludacris & DJ Frank E, rises 6-4 on the Hot 100, Rihanna’s “What’s My Name?,” featuring Drake, dips 4-5 and Ke$ha‘s “We R Who We R” holds at No. 7.
P!nk‘s “Raise Your Glass” remains at No. 8 on the Hot 100, as follow-up single “F**kin’ Perfect” roars 30-11 with Digital Gainer accolades for a second consecutive week, blasting 25-6 on Digital Songs (144,000, up 104%). The release of the “F**kin’ Perfect” video and building radio play contributes to its vault, as the track charges 44-35 on Radio Songs (35.5 million audience impressions, up 29%).
The Black Eyed Peas‘ “The Time (Dirty Bit)” maintains its No. 9 Hot 100 ranking, while singer/rapper Pitbull scores his third top 10 as a lead act and fifth overall, as “Hey Baby (Drop It to the Floor),” featuring T-Pain, charges 20-10 (19-7 on Digital Songs; 141,000, up 55%).
At No. 79, Zac Brown Band‘s “Colder Weather,” which pushes 25-22 on Country Songs, leads a list of three songs new to the Hot 100.
James Blunt enters at No. 94 with “Stay the Night” as his third album, “Some Kind of Trouble,” starts on the Billboard 200 at No. 11 with sales of 26,000.
At No. 100, Jacksonville, Fla., alternative/punk band Yellowcard returns to the survey for the first time since 2006 with “For You, and Your Denial,” the first single from the group’s seventh set, “When You’re Through Thinking, Say Yes,” due March 21.
Also notable on the Hot 100 is the No. 85 re-entry of Justin Bieber‘s “Never Say Never,” featuring Jaden Smith. After spending five weeks on the chart in June and July (peaking at No. 33), the song (29,000 downloads, up 108%) is being reworked to radio as an accompanying single to Bieber’s 3D documentary concert film of the same name opening in theaters Feb. 11.
