Stand Up for Heroes — New York City’s annual event to honor America’s injured and ill veterans and their families — announced Tuesday (Sept. 28) that the event is coming back for its 15th year, and Bruce Springsteen is set to headline the live benefit show. The event is set for Nov. 8 and will take place at Alice Tully Hall in the Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts instead of its usual Madison Square Garden location.

In addition to Springsteen, Jon Stewart, Nate Bargatze, Jim Gaffigan, Grace Gaustad, Nikki Glaser, Sing Harlem, Donnell Rawlings and more are also slated to perform. Stand Up for Heroes will feature both musical performances and memorable tales and surprises while celebrating the men and women who have served the country.
“Our military community sacrifices so much for their fellow citizens. They have earned our enduring respect, and more importantly, our support. For 15 years, that has been the inspiration behind Stand Up for Heroes — an evening to honor, celebrate, and take action in support of our veterans and their families,” said Bob Woodruff, co-founder of the Bob Woodruff Foundation, which partners with the New York Comedy Festival to put on the annual fundraiser. “The performances will be incredible, but my favorite part of the show is sharing the stories of our heroes.”
This year’s Stand Up for Heroes marks its return to the stage since 2019, as last year’s event went virtual due to the global COVID-19 pandemic. The Boss performed at MSG’s Hulu Theater for the event in 2019 and dusted off old classics “Bobby Jean,” “I’ll Work For You Love,” and “I’m on Fire” from his catalogue before closing out his set with “Dancing in the Dark” and “Land of Hope and Dreams.” He also performed during 2020’s virtual show.
Since the launch of Stand Up for Heroes, the annual event has raised more than $60 million to help veterans, service members and their families. Tickets for this year’s fundraiser go on sale starting Sept. 28 through the bobwoodrufffoundation.org and at Lincoln Center’s box office. Attendees are required to be vaccinated, provide proof of vaccination, and wear masks during the event.
