In addition to winning big at the CMA Awards earlier this week, Brooks & Dunn and Carrie Underwood were among the top honorees at the 12th annual Inspirational Country Music Awards, held last night (Nov. 9) at the Acuff Theatre in Nashville.
Brooks & Dunn’s “Believe” was named song of the year and won for top video. Underwood was named mainstream country artist. Mike Hammock won entertainer of the year, while Tommy Brandt was named male vocalist. Melanie Walker netted female vocalist and perennial favorites the Fox Brothers won the vocal group accolade. Mike Manuel earned the songwriter of the year honor, while Mark Lowry won comedy act of the year.
The Pioneer Award went to Del Way and the Living Legend honor was bestowed on Joe Babcock. The Peasall Sisters, who first gained acclaimed in the film “Oh Brother Where Art Thou,” received the Youth in Music Award.
The ICM Awards concluded the annual Inspirational Country Music Convention, held Nov. 5-9 in Nashville.
