Nobody can duplicate Beyoncé, not even in the form of beer. Brooklyn’s Lineup Brewing has received a cease and desist letter for their Bey-inspired beer called Bïeryoncé, Pitchfork reports.
“As a Hispanic, female-run business, I am very inspired by her so I thought I’d pay homage,” Katarina Martinez, the brewery’s owner, said. “We’re disappointed she didn’t take it as a compliment, but oh well — it was fun while it lasted!”
Beyoncé is not the first artist that Brooklyn’s Lineup has paid homage to, as there are also beers dedicated to Carly Simon (“I Bet You Think This Beer Is About You”), Notorious B.I.G. (“Notorious”) a nd David Bowie and Freddie Mercury (“Under Pressure”).
The beer titled Notorious is described as “a juicy IPA with azacca on the finish. Spread love it’s the Brooklyn way,” while “Under Pressure” is billed as if Bowie and Mercury had a delicious baby.
Bïeryoncé will still be available while current supplies last.
