Four, and three, and two and one-one!
Come Wednesday, Jan. 24, the beloved and hilarious series Broad City will kick off its fifth and, sadly, last season.
The show, which stars real-life BFFs Abbi Jacobson and Ilana Glazer, may have lived on Comedy Central since 2014, but thanks to its slate of musical moments and memorable guest stars (yassss, Shania Twain) it could have easily found a home on MTV in its heyday or given the Lonely Island boys a run for their money on SNL.
Broad City boasted a diverse and killer soundtrack over the past few years, including the likes of Sleater-Kinney, Lil Wayne, alt-J, Fleetwood Mac and the Beastie Boys, among others.
The show had just as much an affinity for good music as it did good weed and good friends, and these inspired musical moments prove it.
Getting Paid to the Sounds of Drake
In this classic Season 1 moment, Ilana and Abbi (sporting her best Missy Elliott-inspired ensemble) roll up to the bank to cash a fat check (eight f**kin’ thousand dollars!) set to Drake’s “Started From the Bottom.”
Abbi Was on “The Edge of Glory”
It’s a well-known fact that Lady Gaga’s “The Edge of Glory” is the best song to dance around naked in your apartment to, especially when your roommate’s gross boyfriend isn’t hanging around, for once. No one captured that better than a joyous—and, yep, totally naked—Abbi in this glorious Season 2 gem.
Ilana and Abbi Have a Split-Screen Music Montage
Without a single word uttered by the gals, Broad City produced one of the show’s funniest segments back in Season 1 by showing how starkly different Abbi and Ilana’s days are, set to the sounds of Ana Tijoux.
Abbi and Ilana Have a Jam Sesh?
No strangers to city drum circles, the gals got creative with their drumming (turns out boobs and bongos are a perfect pair) during one of their many Skype chats in the first season.
Ilana’s Coworkers Get “Joyful, Joyful”
We love Ilana as much as the next Broad City fan, but it’s undeniable she would be the worst colleague imaginable. No one knew that better than her long-suffering Deals Deals Deals coworkers, who had a Sister Act 2-inspired celebration (complete with Whoopi Goldberg) when she was finally leaving her job in Season 3.
Abbi’s Alter Ego Val Takes Center Stage
We can only hope our drunken other selves are even half as cool, sexy, and jazzy as Season 2 revelation Val.
Ilana Sings “I Rich”
She remixed this classic into “I Bike,” “I Tweet” and “I Shit,” but her Season 1 earworm “I Rich” is the one that started it all.
TV, music and tripping so hard after getting your wisdom teeth out will never be the same without Broad City. Thanks for the memories, ladies.
