Following months of speculation, E! says it has confirmed that Britney Spears has finally signed her contract to be a judge on the sophomore season of Fox’s “X Factor.” When contacted by Billboard.biz, a spokesperson for the show refused to confirm and Fox had no comment.
Britney Spears Closing In On $15 Million ‘X Factor’ Deal
It was reported a few weeks ago that the pop star had nabbed a $15 million contract for the show, but that her representatives were still working out the details. Rumors that Miley Cyrus and Demi Lovato are under consideration to judge the show have also been cirulating recently, although nothing has been announced or confirmed.
The debut season of Simon Cowell’s singing reality show ended with major shake-ups, with two of the four judges — Nicole Scherzinger, who reportedly pulled in $1.5 million and Paula Abdul, who netted $2.5 million — leaving the show. The host, U.K. television personality Steve Jones, was also let go.
Remaining judges Simon Cowell and L.A. Reid will presumably be joined on the panel by two more celebrities. Earlier this year, rumors of Mariah Carey and Beyonce joining the panel circulated, but were quickly shot down by Cowell himself.
