British rapper J Hus was arrested in London Thursday (June 21) and charged with carrying a knife after being stopped in a vehicle by police.
The 23-year-old rapper, whose real name is Momodou Jallow, was denied bail on Friday and will remain in custody until his trial on July 20, the Guardian reports.
Earlier this year, J Hus was nominated for multiple Brit Awards, including British Album of the Year for his studio debut, Common Sense. He was also nominated for the Mercury Prize in 2017.
The rapper is scheduled to appear at numerous U.K. and European music festivals in June and July, but it’s unclear whether he will make those performances.
