Bristol Palin — ex-Alaska govenor Sarah Palin’s daughter — has some thoughts about Miley Cyrus‘ new, naked Paper magazine story.
Palin takes issue with Cyrus’ assertion from the interview that she’s the least judgmental person ever, but also, as the Paper author notes, that she “maintains a particular contempt for fundamentalist lawmakers who rally against … progressive, potentially life-saving changes [for the LGBT] community.”

Palin found those two statements at odds with one another, writing in a blog post, “Is it just me or does it seem more than a little fake that someone claiming to be accepting of everyone and everything would spew such judgment towards her own parents and their deeply held religious beliefs? She wants everyone else to let her be ‘free to be Miley,’ but seems unwilling to offer the same respect to her parents and those who wish to live out their Christian faith. Oh, Miley. Thanks for giving us the best example of what ‘tolerance’ looks like in Hollywood: it looks a lot like contempt.”
Quick distinction to make here: In the story, Cyrus explained that she was the least judgmental person ever with respect to the idea of “live and let live” — “As long as you’re not hurting anyone, your choices are your choices,” she said. As soon as someone (like, well, certain fundamentalist lawmakers) start to hurt someone, i.e. make life difficult for groups of people based on exclusionary beliefs, all bets are off.
