After establishing himself as one of the top producers in K-pop, Brave Brothers is expanding Stateside.
Brave Brothers (just one person, real name Kang Dongchul) has already completed studio sessions with YG and “Awkward” singer Eric Bellinger, according Damuer H. Leffridge who is managing partner at Popular Music Group and helped connect K-pop girl group T-ara N4 to open a Chris Brown concert last year. The man leading these latest U.S.-Korea relationships, Leffridge also tells Billboard that composer/songwriter met Cee Lo Green (but did not record with him) and is in talks to connect with DJ Mustard and Nelly too. The exec has been posting pictures from the Los Angeles meetings (see below).
Originally a producer and composer for YG Entertainment (that houses PSY, BIGBANG, 2NE1 and more), Brave Brothers has become one of K-pop’s go-to dudes, crafting hits for BIGBANG, HyunA, SISTAR, After School, Teen Top and more. Famous for his pop-meets-hip-hop, percussion-heavy beats, the producer/songwriter earned three No. 1s on the K-Pop Hot 100 last year via Hyolyn’s “One Way Love,” 4Minute‘s “What’s Your Name?,” along with the overall No. 1 K-Pop song of 2013 with Sistar19’s “Gone Not Around Any Longer.”
