Fourteen years after the massive success of “The Boy Is Mine,” Monica and Brandy — the ’90s R&B sensations who helped keep the song at No. 1 on the Hot 100 for 13 weeks in 1998 — are back with a new collaboration.
The song, dubbed “It All Belongs to Me,” will appear on both of the singer’s albums, similar to “The Boy Is Mine.” The collaboration will appear on Monica’s sixth studio album, “New Life,” (March 6) and Brandy’s yet-to-be titled album also slated for March, 2012.The single, written and produced by Rico Love, will be released Feb. 6.
Rico Love recently told Rap-Up that the collaboration was orignially Monica’s idea. “Monica heard the record and she was so excited about it. She was like, ‘Yo, I really think that this should be that thing, that next duet.’ Then [RCA Records executive] Peter Edge and [Chameleon Records CEO] Breyon Prescott put it together.”
Brandy, who balanced her teenage recording career with her own TV show, “Moesha,” recently signed on for ten episodes of the BET TV series, “The Game.” She’s also appear on the big screen in Tyler Perry’s upcoming film, “The Marriage Counselor.”
