Feeling a nostalgia-y urge to learn an important life lesson today?
Today is the 21st (!) anniversary of the premiere of Boy Meets World, the beloved sitcom that ran from 1993-2000 on ABC. While there’s plenty of great moments on the show (like, um, everything Mr. Feeny ever said), Billboard got to thinking about the many musical high points on the program.
In addition to music stars that guested on the show — Micky Dolenz, Davy Jones and (serious ’90s flashback!) Nobody’s Angel — BMW also had the main cast occasionally singing and dancing (like that time Cory and Topanga decided karaoke was a good idea).
Below, check out eight of our favorite Boy Meets World music moments. Don’t worry: Best Revenge Song This Side of Alanis Morissette, “Shallow Boy,” is clearly number one.
8. Last Tango In Philly (A.K.A. The Time All The Men Dance)
A.K.A that time the show gave fans exactly what they wanted. Bonus: Fans learn Mr. Feeny can boogie.
7. Micky Dolenz
The Monkees man was a welcome addition to Alan Matthews’ old band. (Alan Matthews may have been cooler once upon a time.)
6. Davy Jones
Oh, to live in a world where Davy Jones just drops by your house. Also, this show really loved The Monkees, apparently.
5. Nobody’s Angel
In case you’ve forgotten, these small-town girls just wanted Cory and Shawn to tell them if they have any talent.
4. “Good Looking Detective”
Show of hands: Who else would watch Eric Matthews: Good Looking Detective?
3. Cory and Topanga Karaoke
Topanga was right: They really weren’t the right couple to sing “War.”
2. “Wind Beneath My Wings”
Surprise: Morgan is the most talented Matthews by far.
1. “Shallow Boy”
Being suddenly dark and edgy never looked so good.
