William Booth has risen from executive VP/GM to the role as deputy managing director of EMI Music Publishing U.K., with immediate effect.
“William has brought to us his steady and experienced background as a lawyer, coupled with his extensive knowledge of music publishing and in the last three years he and I have found a management methodology which is a great fit for each other,” comments Guy Moot, managing director of EM Music Publishing U.K., to whom he reports.
“His ethical approach to the business, passion for the industry and understanding of the nuances involved in protecting our rights into the future, make him the perfect person to meet the demands of the job in the digital age,” Moot adds.
Booth has an extensive career in the legal industry and music publishing. After serving for legal firms Clintons and Harbottle and Lewis, he had stints in the ’90s as managing director of Sony Music Publishing in London, and as senior VP, Europe for Sony/ATV Music Publishing.
He joined EMI Music Publishing U.K. in September 2003 in the role as senior VP/head of business. He was promoted on June 1, 2005 to executive VP/GM.
In addition, Booth serves on the board of the U.K.’s MCPS/PRS Alliance.
