U2’s Bono has lent his pipes to chef Mario Batali in an effort to raise awareness for Batali’s (RED) campaign to help fight AIDS.
In the video below, Bono playfully sings, “Mario, Mario, Mario, Mario! I once met a chef called Mario – ah, the cheapest of dates. Ten bucks, a ginger, a redhead. I’m in.”
Bono’s brief tune was in reference to Batali’s EAT (RED). DRINK (RED). SAVE LIVES program. The chef is asking fans to contribute $10 for a chance to win private cooking lessons in New York. Proceeds will go toward providing HIV positive pregnant women access to medication they heed to ensure that their children are born HIV free.

Since being co-founded by Bono in 2006, (RED) has generated more than $240 million for the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria.
Earlier this year, U2 premiered the new song “Invisible” via a commercial from (RED) and Bank of America that aired during the Super Bowl. Bank of America donated $1 for every song downloaded to the Global Fund.
