Bon Iver’s Justin Vernon and The National’s annual music festival, Eaux Claires, will not return to Wisconsin next year. The festival’s website announced Tuesday (Dec. 11) that the event will be held off until 2020.
“After our Senior year, we find ourselves wanting to move out, change things, and take stock of who we’ve become. In order to manage this transition, we are going to take a year off,” the announcement reads. “While it will be hard for us to break the chain of momentum and the positive impact the festival has had on our community, we have fresh, clear ideas of how to make it even better.”
Organizers will, however, hold some events in the next few months that “will incorporate performance and dialogue about the direction we plan on taking the festival throughout the coming decade.”
The festival was started in 2015 and has had a number of top-level performers over the years, including Paul Simon, James Blake and Julien Baker. Read the full statement here.
