Singer Bobby Brown will remain in an Atlanta-area jail until a court appearance tomorrow (Aug. 27), DeKalb County officials said. Brown has been in the county jail since his Friday arrest for violating his probation from an earlier drunk driving conviction.
A warrant was issued last month, but he was not arrested until Friday night, when he was spotted at a suburban Atlanta seafood restaurant with wife, Whitney Houston. Another restaurant patron called police.
In January, Brown, 33, was sentenced to eight days in jail and ordered not to drive for a year after pleading guilty to a 1996 drunken driving charge in DeKalb County. The singer was arrested because he did not show up for court-ordered community service, drug treatment or a random drug test, according to a DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson.
Last November, Brown was arrested in Atlanta on charges of possessing less than an ounce of marijuana, speeding and having no driver’s license or proof of insurance. He endured a 26-day stint in a Florida jail in 2000 for a previous probation violation.Copyright 2003 Associated Press. All rights reserved.
