Deer Tick’s Newport Folk Fest afterparties will bring six acts to the Newport Blues Cafe this summer.
As is their tradition, the band has curated three nights at the intimate venue, with proceeds to be donated to the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation.
This year’s lineup includes Langhorne Slim and Bobby Bare, Jr., performing on Friday, July 26; Justin Townes Earle and Jason Isbell on July 27; and the Felice Brothers on Sunday, July 28.
Deer Tick will perform each night, but use the final gig to perform their upcoming album, “Negativity,” in full. The new set is the band’s first since 2011’s “Divine Providence.”
The shows have been sold out since April but the band is giving away a pair of tickets to Sunday’s party to one lucky fan. According to their Facebook page: “We’ll be giving 2 tickets to one Folk Festival attendee who Instagrams the best photo on Saturday afternoon at 3pm. All you have to do is #?lookup. Keep your eye on the sky Saturday afternoon and make sure to hashtag your photo with #?negativity for the chance to win.”
The Newport Folk Fest, also set for July 26 to 28, will include performances from Beck, Feist, the Avett Brothers, the Lumineers and My Morning Jacket’s Jim James, among others.
