Broadcast Music, Inc. (BMI) and Sundance will host the sixth annual Sundance Snowball showcase on Jan. 23 during the Sundance Film Festival. Set to perform are the Aggrolites, Nick Urata from DeVotchKa, Steve Smith from Dirty Vegas, and Cheb i Sabbah. The showcase will take place at the Kimball Art Center and is open to badge holders.
The performing right organization has also teamed with Turning Leaf Vineyards for six nights of performances at the vineyard’s “Leaf Lounge,” an exclusive wine bar. The shows will be held January 20-25 and feature Graham Colton, Emi Meyer and Mandi Perkins, among others.
Additionally, BMI is set to present the 10th annual composer/director roundtable, entitled “Music & Film: The Creative Process,” also on Jan. 23. The discussion will focus on the dialog and relationship between composer and directors. Among the panelists scheduled to speak are composers George S. Clinton (“Austin Powers”), Christopher Young (“Sleepwalking”), John Frizzell (“Henry Poole Is Here”), BT (“Monster”). Also scheduled are filmmakers Timothy Greenfield Sanders (“The Black List”), Amy Redford (“The Guitar”), Alex Gibney (“Gonzo: the Life & Work of Dr. Hunter S. Thompson”) and Patrick Creadon (“I.O.U.S.A.”), among many others.
The event is open to festival badge holders and tickets will be on sale to the public.
