BMG Songs entered into a global co-publishing agreement with Lupe Fiasco, the Chicago-based rapper featured on Kanye West’s “Touch the Sky,” which he co-wrote.
Fiasco’s debut album, “Food & Liquor” executive produced by Jay-Z, is expected for release this summer on 1st and 15th/Atlantic Records. Linkin Park’s Mike Shinoda, a Zomba/BMG songwriter, is among the guests on the album.
BMG Songs also entered into an agreement with Fiasco’s record company, 1st and 15th Productions, that BMG describes as a “joint venture-type” deal. Under the deal, BMG Songs anticipates signing the label’s producers to music publishing deals.
The deals were announced today (March 17) by Scott Francis, president of BMG Songs, which is also home to Nelly, Chad Hugo of the Neptunes, Lil’ Flip, Chingy, D4L, Keyshia Cole, Rhymefest, Manuel Seal, Maroon5, Chritina Aguilera, Yellowcard and the All-American Rejects.
