BMG Music Publishing has promoted Simon Mortimer to the newly-created post of VP, business development worldwide.
Mortimer will lead the company’s initiatives to develop increasing business in such areas as new media/technology, film/TV, marketing and merchandising for new and existing platforms.
“Simon’s new role reflects BMG Music Publishing’s commitment to aggressive growth across all business lines,” says executive VP/COO Laurent Hubert. “Demand for music is at an all time high and as a leading music publisher we must capitalize on these new revenue opportunities. Simon’s past experiences make him the ideal person to help us meet this challenge.”
Mortimer was previously VP, marketing and production music. He continues to be based in London reporting directly to Hubert in New York.
Since joining BMG in 1992 as manager for film/TV, Mortimer has developed the publisher’s production-music business through the acquisition of Atmosphere and Match Music, and forging relationships with some of the world’s major film/TV companies including the BBC and Fremantle. Prior to BMG, Mortimer headed the film/TV department at Virgin Music U.K.
