BMG Japan has struck an agreement to exclusively distribute Hostess Entertainment’s catalog and new releases, with effect from March 1.
The deal will cover all the Tokyo-based indie label’s repertoire from partnerships in the market, including recordings from Domino Recording Co, PIAS Group and V2/Cooperative Music.
BMG Japan will provide back-end distribution management services, and offer nationwide support for sales and broadcast media promotion. Hostess will continue to manage all aspects of its business and release schedule with its in-house marketing, digital, promotion and sales departments.
The major/indie partnership follows a string of projects, including the recent release of Radiohead’s “In Rainbows” in Japan, which is certified gold (100,000 units).
Upcoming releases to be handled through the new alliance recording from the Kills, Los Campesinos, Blood Red Shoes, Vitalic, Mogwai, Yo Majesty, Bloc Party and new albums from Alex Turner (Arctic Monkeys) and Miles Kane (Rascals/Little Flames).
