Michael Bloom has left his position as GM of the Rhapsody America joint venture, Billboard.biz has learned.
Bloom was originally head of MTV’s Urge music service, and became GM of the Rhapsody unit when the two merged late last year. He will transition back to the MTV Networks team, where he will work on various music and pop culture brands and initiatives. His new title is not yet confirmed.
Neil Smith, who joined Rhapsody America as VP in August 2007, will be responsible for marketing, operations, and business development. On the RealNetworks side, Rob Williams, will oversee the division as senior VP for music software. Both report to RealNetworks chairman and CEO Rob Glaser.
