Gone are the days of nudie runs, dodgy BMX stunts and raised middle fingers. Blink-182 are all grown-up, and they’ve not matured disgracefully.
The alternative rockers have shared the official video for “Home Is Such a Lonely Place,” a ballad lifted from their hit 2016 comeback album, California.
Director Jason Goldwatch uses Super 8 cameras to observe bandmates Mark Hoppus, Travis Barker and Matt Skiba as they farewell their families before hitting the road once more.
The result is a special home-video that was “probably the easiest we’ve ever filmed,” the rockers recount in a message accompanying the clip. “All we had to do was be ourselves at home with our family and friends, as we prepared to leave for tour. Consequently, it’s also our most personal and honest videos, and one of my favorites.” Goldwatch also captures the trio in their element — rocking out on stage.
Blink-182 had an improbable smash with California, the band’s first album in five years. California bowed atop the Billboard 200 last July, their first No. 1 on the survey since 2001’s Take Off Your Pants and Jacket, and earned their first Grammy nomination for best rock album. The album marked the group’s first with Skiba and without co-founder, Tom DeLonge.
