Marnie Black, former VP of communications for MTV Music is being promoted to senior VP of communications for the network. She will report MTV’s president, Christina Norman, and continue to be based in New York.
In this position, her responsibilities will include overseeing press strategies for MTV, MTV2, mtvU, MTV tr3s and MTV World, including new programming launches and promotion of annual marquis events, such as the “MTV Video Music Awards” and “mtvU Woodies.”
In her previous position, Black coordinated the launch of some of MTV’s most successful programming and events, including “Newlyweds: Nick & Jessica,” “Laguna Beach: The Real Orange County” and MTV Films. She joined MTV in 1998 as director of communications where she managed projects including the launch of MTV’s hit video countdown show “Total Request Live.”
