Limp Bizkit frontman Fred Durst says the band will embark a nationwide search for a replacement for guitarist Wes Borland on Jan. 11 in Fresno, Calif., in a series of auditions under the moniker Put Your Guitar Where Your Mouth Is. Speaking to MTV News, Durst said the auditions would take place at Guitar Center outlets in 22 U.S. cities, with “finalists” invited back later in the day to jam with the band.
Durst said hopeful guitarists who can’t make it to any of the auditions can also upload samples to MP3.com. If the rest of Limp Bizkit is impressed by a particular submission, the group may fly the guitarist out to the next nearest audition. Full details are due to be posted on Limp Bizkit’s official Web site, but at deadline no information was yet available there. An Interscope spokesperson did not return a call seeking comment.
Borland amicably exited Limp Bizkit in October and has since been working on an album with a new band, Eat The Day. According to that band’s official Web site, Borland and his brother Scott “have been attending vocal lessons a couple times a week to spice up their lovely voices. Wes is very happy with what they are producing and I am sure [he] can’t wait to get it out there for all of you to hear.”
