Sony Music Entertainment has named Neil Smith senior VP of U.S. business development for its Global Digital Business Group.
From the release: In this role Mr. Smith will oversee all new business development in the U.S. for Sony Music’s Global Digital Business, focusing on increasing revenue and expanding distribution of the company’s digital products through the creation of new business models and revenue streams with both new and existing partners.
Mr. Smith joins Sony Music from Rhapsody International, Inc. where he was Senior Vice President, Business Development, overseeing the company’s business development, marketing and label relations efforts around the Rhapsody digital music subscription service.
Prior to joining Rhapsody in 2007, Mr. Smith spent 11 years at AOL in several positions of increasing scope and responsibility, most recently as General Manager of AOL Music Now, AOL’s digital music subscription service…
Smith will be based in New York and will report to Michael Paull, executive VP of the Global Digital Business group.
