Groove Mobile, the Massachusetts-based international mobile-music service provider, has expanded its London office with the appointment of Jason Binks to be director of off-portal marketing.
Binks will be responsible for advancing Groove Mobile’s marketing activities and business development with U.K. and European clients seeking to use the wireless platforms to reach music consumers without necessarily going through the carriers’ own branded portal.
Previously, Binks was business development director at Hyperlaunch New Media, the U.K.-based digital-marketing agency with clients such as labels Polydor and Island Records, Hollywood studio Warner Bros., plus publishers Random House and Virgin Books. His other experiences include positions at digital-music pioneers Vitaminic and DX3.
In a statement, Adam Sexton, Groove Mobile’s chief marketing officer, said: “Our expansion is attracting top talent like Jason who are eager to build on the increasing demand for mobile music from millions of music fans.”
Groove Mobile’s clients include the music offering from mobile operators such as the U.S.’ Sprint Nextel, Orange in the United Kingdom and Singapore’s SingTel. The company powers music services reaching more than 80 million mobile customers worldwide.
