Billy Ray Cyrus will host the reality show “Nashville Star” when the series, which aired on USA Network for five years, moves to NBC this summer. Previous hosts have included Jewel, LeAnn Rimes and Nancy O’Dell.
As previously reported, Cyrus and daughter Miley Cyrus (“Hannah Montana”) will host the CMT Music Awards on April 14. The pair recently scored a top 5 Billboard Hot Country Songs hit with “Ready, Set, Don’t Go.”
“Nashville Star” is currently conducting a national casting search and its sixth season will launch this summer. The winner receives a contract with Warner Bros. Nashville.
Miranda Lambert is among the show’s alumni.
