After 19 years of marriage, Billy Ray and Tish Cyrus have confirmed that they have both filed paperwork for a divorce. The couple has five children, including 20-year-old Miley Cyrus, who came into fame after her father brought her into the spotlight with the Disney television series “Hannah Montana.”

This is not the first time that the couple has run into issues. In October of 2010 Ray and Cyrus split ways, only to reconcile several months later.
Cyrus filed for an official split at the Los Angeles Superior Court, citing irreconcilable differences. Ray also has announced that he filed paperwork in Nashville. Right now the couple is asking the media to respect their family’s privacy. “This is a personal matter and we are doing what is in the best interest of our family. We ask that you respect our privacy at this time.” Ray said in an official statement to the press on Thursday.
Miley is currently working on her highly anticipated 2013 follow up to 2010’s “Can’t Be Tamed.” Earlier this month she released “We Can’t Stop”, an upbeat party anthem produced by Mike WiLL.
The young singer has also been trying to reach out to her father, tweeting on Thursday “@billyraycyrus since your text and email obviously aren’t working would you like to talk like this?”
“We Can’t Stop” is currently holding a No. 11 slot in the Hot 100 Chart.
