As president/COO of peermusic, Kathy Spanberger already oversees one of the largest and most venerable song catalogs in music publishing. In the past 12 months, she’s expanded peermusic’s reach with key deals, including acquisition of the catalog of David Foster and a deal for his future work. “That’s one of the high moments of my career,” she says. She also led the acquisition of 50% of Ventura Music, home to some of the biggest Latin pop hits of the ’80s and ’90s, and administration of the entire catalog, plus an ongoing deal with songwriter/producer Alejandro Jaen. In the A&R realm, Spanberger recently partnered with Latin Grammy Award winner Chocquibtown in the master recording of its new album. It is, Spanberger says, “a great example of how we can work.” Spanberger also oversaw the expansion of peermusic’s Nashville offices with the addition of award-winning producer Michael Knox (Jason Aldean) as senior creative director and the signing of top lyricist Vicky McGehee and Average Joe Records artist Rachel Farley.
