Nappy Roots, Anthony Hamilton, Goapele, Little Brother, Jacki O, Kayne West, Novel and Mystic have been tapped to perform at the fourth annual Billboard-AURN R&B/Hip-Hop Awards, set for Aug. 8 at Miami Beach’s Jackie Gleason Theater.
The award show, to be co-hosted by Idris Elba of HBO’s “The Wire” and radio personality Russ Parr of AURN’s nationally syndicated “Russ Parr Morning Show,” will close the 2003 Billboard/AURN R&B/Hip-Hop Conference, which takes place Aug. 6-8 at the Roney Palace in Miami Beach.
50 Cent leads this years finalists with 10 mentions, including R&B/Hip-Hop album of the year and rap album of the year for “Get Rich Or Die Tryin’.” Nelly and R. Kelly are also among the top finalists.
Additionally, Grandmaster Flash and Betty Wright will be honored with the second annual Founders Awards, recognizing artists for their achievements and influence on others in the R&B and hip-hop genres, as chosen by the editors of Billboard.
