Billboard Magazine is going mobile. Through an exclusive partnership with mobile entertainment publisher and distributor mForma, Billboard will make its charts, music news and access to music available to mobile users nationwide via an integrated entertainment application, Billboard Mobile, which launches next month.
The service will provide free access to Billboard charts ranking the top music singles, albums and ringtones, and will allow users to navigate by music genre, artist or chart category. Paid subscribers may then unlock additional Billboard content such as artist information, headlines, feature articles, photos, music reviews, song information, games/trivia and artist information.
All elements are cross navigational, meaning viewing an artist’s information page will lead to links to buy ringtones from that artist, as well as photos, tour dates and reviews. The service allows subscribers to listen to streaming audio samples of singles and ringtones, as well as purchase singles, albums and ringtones billed to their wireless phone invoice.
The mobile service also will be integrated with the Billboard.com website. Billboard’s partnership with mForma will include expanding the Billboard Mobile service to additional markets worldwide.
